Disposable Luer Lock Needle Blood Transfusion Set with Air-filter
A blood transfusion or blood administrator set is used for the intravascular delivery of Blood, Blood elements (red blood cells, platelets, plasma). This is employed to ensure a gravity-controlled, safe transfer of blood from the blood bag to the patient.
Blood Transfusion Sets are used to administer blood or blood components from a container (plastic bag or glass bottle) to a patient’s vascular system through a needle or catheter inserted into the vein. The soft PVC made tubing facilitates to provide the fluid path for blood or blood components to circulate and administer the same in to the patient’s body vein. It is most commonly used for administration of blood or blood components in to the patient’s body vein whenever lack of blood or its components observed in to the patient’s body by the paramedic staff.
Features and Benefits
*Blood transfusion set with single drip chamber, latex bulb.
*Strong and sharp spike for easy insertion in blood container.
*Clear, transparent and kink resistant, medical grade bio-compatible PVC tubing with luer slip.
*Air inlet is provided with hydrophobic air filter which prevents ingress of airborne microbial contamination.
*Provided with 200µ Blood Filter Faciliated with Latex Bulb.
*Provide with 18G Needle (optional).
*Kink Resistance tubing facilitate with thumb controlling roller clamp.
*Roller clamp provide efficient flow control of blood infusion.
*Facilitate with latex bulb provide the self-sealing injection site.
*Drip tube designed as approximately 20 drops of distilled water equivalent to 1ml.
*Tube length: 150cm.
*Single use, Sterile, Non Pyrogenic.
*In compliance with IS and ISO standard.
Six Reasons to Choose this Blood Transfusion Giving Set
*Sterility Assured: Every set is guaranteed sterile, ensuring maximum patient safety during transfusions.
*Single-Patient Design: Made for one-time use, removing the risk of cross-contamination.
*Optimised for Infusion Therapy: Expertly designed for seamless blood administration during infusion processes.
*Locking Control: Provides a reliable mechanism to ensure precise fluid control and prevent unintended flow.
*Variable Fluid Delivery: Flexibility in controlling the delivery rate to suit individual patient needs.
*Integrated Bacterial Filter: Each set comes equipped with a 200-micron bacterial filter, reinforcing patient safety by preventing microbial entry.
How to use the Blood Transfusion Giving Set
Administering a blood transfusion requires careful precision and adherence to the established procedures. Here's a step-by-step guide to ensure a safe transfusion process:
Priming the Line
1. The line must be primed to expel air before attaching it to the patient. Always prime with the blood component, but 0.9% Sodium Chloride can be an alternative.
2. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for priming.
Changing the Administration Set
If multiple units are being transfused, change the administration set at least every 12 hours to prevent bacterial growth. Always refer to the manufacturer's guidelines or your hospital's policy.
On Completion of the Transfusion
Flushing the remaining blood with 0.9% Sodium Chloride is not advised. For a subsequent IV infusion, utilise a new administration set to minimise the risk of incompatible fluids or drugs causing haemolysis.
Patient Check
As a preliminary measure, check the patient’s blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
Steps Before the Transfusion
1. Type & Crossmatch: Draw a blood sample and ensure it's correctly labelled.
2. Consent & History: Engage the patient about the procedure, verify their medical history, and obtain their signed consent.
3. IV Access: Secure the IV. For other IV medications, establish a secondary IV access. Only use Normal saline with blood products.
4. Gather Supplies: This includes Y tubing with an in-line filter, 0.9% NaCl solution, and a blood warmer.
5. Vital Signs: Record essential vitals and inform the doctor if any irregularities arise.
6. Retrieve Blood: Collect the blood from the blood bank and initiate the transfusion promptly.
Initiating the Transfusion
1. Verification: Two RNs should cross-check patient details, blood type, and expiration date against the physician’s order and blood bank documentation.
2. Patient Education: Inform them about the potential symptoms of a transfusion reaction.
3. Transfusion Start: Use the Y tubing, initiate slowly, and adjust the rate based on the patient’s reactions.
During the Transfusion
1. Monitor the patient for any reactions.
2. If a reaction is suspected, halt the transfusion, disconnect the tubing, monitor the patient, and notify the supervising doctor.
Post-Transfusion Steps
Conclude by flushing the Y tubing with normal saline, disposing of it appropriately, and documenting the procedure and any reactions.
