How To Use A Disposable Urethral Catheter Set

1.Disinfection of the vulva

(2)Pour PVP-iodine into the treatment bowl, confirm that the cotton ball is soaked, and be careful not to cross the sterile area when pouring the disinfectant.

(4)Lay the drapes so that the drapes and the inner layer of the sterile catheterization cloth form an overall sterile area.

(5)Select a suitable catheter and a pair of hemostatic forceps according to the age and physical condition of the patient, put them into the treatment bowl or curved plate, and lubricate the front end of the catheter with liquid paraffin cotton balls, so that it can be inserted into the urethra smoothly later, reducing the risk of bleeding. irritation and damage.

2.Catheterization

(4)Use another vascular clamp to hold the catheter and align it with the urethral opening and gently insert it into the urethra for 4-6cm. When the urine flows out, insert about 1cm. Release your left hand and move down to fix the catheter.

3.Export urine

(1)Introduce the urine into the treatment bowl or curved plate. After the urine in the treatment bowl is full, the end of the catheter can be clamped with a vascular clamp, the urine can be poured into the bedpan, and then the catheter can be opened to continue urinating. Pay attention to ask the patient's feeling, observe the patient's reaction, and deal with it in time if there is any uncomfortable symptom.

(2)If urine culture is required, take 5ml of urine with a sterile test tube, cover the bottle cap, and place it in a suitable place.

4.Pull out the urinary catheter

(1)After the catheterization is over, gently pull out the catheter, remove the towel, and wipe the vulva clean.

(2)Take off the gloves, put the contaminated gloves in the catheterization bag, and wrap it well.

(3)Take out the small rubber sheet and treatment towel under the patient's buttocks, and put them on the lower layer of the treatment cart.

(4)Assist the patient to put on pants.
