Blood Sugar Meter Diabetic Blood Glucose Sugar Monitor Meter
Product Description
Blood Sugar Meter Diabetic Blood Glucose Sugar Monitor Meter
A blood glucose meter is a medical device used to measure the concentration of glucose in the blood. It is an essential tool for people with diabetes and healthcare professionals to manage and monitor blood sugar levels effectively.
Working Principle
1. Blood Sample Collection:
A lancet pierces the skin to draw a small drop of blood (typically 0.5–1 microliter). Alternate testing sites (e.g., forearm or palm) may be used, though fingertip samples are most accurate.
2. Enzymatic Reaction:
Blood is applied to the test strip’s reactive area. Glucose in the blood reacts with enzymes on the strip, producing a measurable electrical current or color change.
3. Electrochemical Detection:
In most modern meters, the reaction generates an electrical current proportional to the glucose concentration. The meter converts this signal into a digital reading (in mg/dL or mmol/L, depending on regional settings).
4. Display and Storage:
Results appear on the screen within 5–10 seconds. Advanced meters store historical data, calculate averages, or sync with apps via Bluetooth for trend analysis.
